When someone receives a cancer diagnosis, their focus often shifts to immediate treatment. However, there’s an aspect that frequently goes overlooked: the impact on reproductive health and the options available to preserve fertility. At Fertilidad Integral, together with the COI Foundation, we want to change this reality and open the conversation about the importance of preserving eggs, sperm, or embryos before starting any oncological treatment. 💪❤️
A Commitment to the Future 🚀
At Fertilidad Integral and the COI Foundation, we’ve joined forces with a clear goal: to provide information and support to cancer patients in Mexico and raise awareness about the importance of protecting reproductive health in these cases.
“We want to strengthen the connection between oncologists and assisted reproduction specialists so that every patient knows about options like egg, sperm, or embryo freezing and can make informed decisions about their reproductive future,” explains Dr. José Gutiérrez Frusch, Medical Director of Fertilidad Integral.
Through strategic alliances like this one, we aim to bridge the gap in access to personalized and empathetic oncological treatments, especially for those going through a time of great uncertainty.
Cancer and Fertility: An Overlooked Issue 🚨
In Mexico, breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women. It ranks third among those aged 20 to 29 and first in women over 30, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). In 2023 alone, there were over 89,000 deaths from this disease.
On the other hand, prostate and testicular cancer also significantly impact men’s health. Testicular cancer is more common in young men between 15 and 35 years old, while prostate cancer typically appears in men over 50, though it can also occur at younger ages.
Unfortunately, more than 50% of cancer diagnoses are made at advanced stages, reducing survival rates. This is compounded by a lack of information about fertility preservation, limiting the options for many patients who could benefit from assisted reproduction treatments after overcoming the disease.
Transforming Lives Through Information and Support 🤗❤️
At Fertilidad Integral, our commitment goes beyond reproductive medicine: we create a safe and trusting environment so every patient can make informed decisions. With personalized care and a comprehensive approach, we support those who wish to preserve their fertility in the face of a complex diagnosis.
Our partnership with the COI Foundation, part of the International Oncology Center, reinforces this commitment. With over 12 years of experience in cancer treatment, COI has become one of Mexico’s leading institutions in the fight against this disease. Their comprehensive approach and highly qualified medical team allow them to provide personalized and compassionate oncological care to every patient.
Thanks to this collaboration, we can offer emotional support, guidance throughout the process, and tailored solutions for each case, ensuring that fertility preservation is part of the conversation from the beginning.
“At Fertilidad Integral, we believe every patient deserves the freedom to make informed choices about their fertility. Together with organizations dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection, we aim to empower more people by providing the tools they need to plan their future with hope,” concludes Dr. Gutiérrez Frusch.
