Before, a lot of people made the decision to postpone their personal and career objectives in favor of pursuing their plans for starting a family. It’s a good thing that nowadays you can achieve your dreams at your own rhythm. Freezing eggs allows you to pause time and carefully consider if and when you want to start a family.
Freezing your eggs when they are young and in their best quality increases your chances of getting a pregnancy in the future, when you’re ready. These are two factors that you have to keep in mind when deciding:
This particular aspect varies as we progress in life, but it experiences a significant decline over the years. Eggs that are in better condition are not only more fertile, but they also increase the likelihood of producing healthy babies.
Throughout our lives, we gradually release the one to two million eggs that we are born with. This number, referred to as the ovarian reserve, is indicative of a woman’s reproductive potential. As the reserve diminishes, so does our fertility, a loss felt each year.
Each person is unique, so we evaluate each case separately. But if you want to get a general idea of the steps you would take if you decide to embark on an egg freeze, this will help you:
The first step is a consultation with one of our specialists. We’ll review your medical history, do an ultrasound, and ask you for some tests. Once we have gathered all of this information, we will evaluate the options available to you and create a customized plan.
The next step is to stimulate your ovaries to produce as many eggs as possible. You’ll easily administer the hormone injections to stimulate egg production yourself. During this process, you’ll be closely monitored through regular blood tests and ultrasound to ensure everything is on track. This way, we can see if your dose needs to be adjusted. Once your eggs have developed fully, an injection will be given to induce ovulation and the subsequent release of the eggs.
Approximately 35 hours after the ovulation trigger, we will capture your eggs using a minimally invasive surgical procedure. To do this, a specialist will insert a small needle through the vaginal wall. No need to worry, the procedure will be performed under local anesthesia, and in most instances, you can resume your regular activities within 24 to 48 hours.
Once we collect the maximum number of mature eggs possible, they will undergo a process in our laboratory called vitrification. Immediately afterward, we will store them securely in a liquid nitrogen tank, where they will remain protected from time and deterioration until you are ready to use them, whether for family planning or other personal goals.
Book a consultation with one of our specialists to discuss your options and develop a personalized fertility plan.
